Our Christmas Eve was a bit of a step away from the norm but we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take a helicopter flight onto Franz Josef Glacier. Two boxes were checked for me with this as it was my first helicopter flight and most certainly my first time on a glacier. Franz Josef and Fox Glacier, which we checked out Christmas Day, are especially interesting because of their close proximity to sea level.

Lake Tekapo
